Shobu Aikido of Cape Cod has been evolving for many years. We officially became Shobu Aikido early in 2008. I, Larry Murray, began my travels on the road of Aikido in the late 1980's with the Massachusetts Ki Society under the direction of Len Rose Sensei. Rose Sensei taught us the basics of Aikido. He was a generous teacher, giving his time and experience with a smile. Many of us that started with him are still very active today. Phil Alatalo Sensei continues on with Massachusetts Ki Society.
During my time with Massachusetts Ki Society, I attended many Gasshuku held at William Gleason's Shobu Aikido of Boston. I found that the people of Gleason Sensei's dojo had the same attitude at that Rose Sensei fostered in us. To learn and to help others onthe Aikido path.

When Rose Senseo passed in the late 1990's, I became a full time student of Gleason Sensei. His devotion to the art of Aikido is complete.
His wish is that Aikido not become watered down over time, but rather it be passed on correctly as O'Sensei taught it.

Over my many years with Gleason Sensei, I have learned much and found I have just scratched the surface of Aikido. I consider myself lucky to be one of his students. And I am grateful for his allowing me to become a Shobu Aikido dojo.

Shobu Aikido of Cape Cod is growing. Those that practice here are dedicated to the art. None ask the question...."When do I get a black belt". All the Shobu Aikido of Cape Cod members practice with a positive attitude. When a new student joins the group, they often come to me after class and thank me for having such a helpful group of people.

This is the attitude of Shobu Aikido of Cape Cod. And it is what has been passed on to me by Rose Sensei, Alatalo Sensei and now by Gleason Sensei.

If you are on Cape Cod, please come practice with us. For information, please write to AIKIDOCAPECOD@YAHOO.COM.
