Hi Toby,

thank you for the message. I have plans to join Gleason sensei´s summer Gasshuku next month while I will be around on my vacation trip.
Is there a registration necessary? How can I find out whether a bokken and a jo can be used from the dojo there since I will not carry my weapons with me?
Thank you again for your contact!
Best regards,
Hans-Joerg

Thanks, I got everything. I'm thinking about starting the eight-week class in June (and taking the free week, thanks). I had some aikido back in the 90's. Didn't get much farther than learning how to roll. When I lived in CA, I visited Aikido of Tamalpais (started by George Leonard (a hero of mine) and Richard Heckler (ditto) and Wendy Palmer. I saw that their dojo became affiliated with Aikido Schools of Ueshiba in 1998 and that Shobu Aikido is part of that, as well. So, I decided to check you out. I'm not sure that's the way to pick the right school, but I have admired Leonard and Heckler for so long, it seemed like a good place to start.

Yes I am, but I haven't trained in a while due to work. I thought about starting up again. I stopped by Old Wethersfield last Thursday where I trained under Rob but no one was there.

Hi Toby san,

The Cape Cod Aikido Friendship Seminar will be Saturday May 30 at the Cape Cod YMCA in Barnstable. It will begin at 10:00 am and run till 5:00 pm. There will be instructors from many different arms of the Aikido world.

Can you put that on the NING web site for me please?

Thank you Larry

Hi, Toby San, nice hearing from you. My son send you his best regards.

We were not just "kind" in hosting Gleason Sensei but also lucky, after that , the expression, mizu no te, and hi no , earth no te, heaven no te started being part of our dojo vocabulary.

I was not promoted to 7th dan, I mean I did not reaceived a higher Dan graduation, but a teaching graduation, this is what in fact is the title of Shihan according to Aikikai Regulations.
To be up to receive this title from AIkikai, it is necessary just to have 7 years of teaching after beeing promoted to rokudan and of course, be a good member of the organization and work for it.

Nice hearing from you.

I hope to meet again Gleason Sensei soon, I have many questions to him regarding his book.
I believe that Aikido theory is now entering in a new phase in America and Europe, and maybe even in Japan. After so many years of looking nuggests insite of a dark cave, it seems westerns are getting aware in the present times of the f the real "Gen" (essence) of Aikido finally.

That story, of :

"Just train......thinking is not necessary".....is about to finish in my view.

The nest step it will be , "Think, read, and define a direction , and then train not thinking , to really make sesne what you have thought and read.

Obviouslly that the second thought is very different the the first.

His book I think is very important as a pioneer book, of course, there is still many to write, a hope a third book of Gleason sensei will comme soon.

I finish the traslation to portuguese of the last book published by Kodansha with O sensei´s articles, that my editor will publish here in Brazil, it is really very good too for the purpose I mentioned above .

Toby,

When I look at the EVENTS on this web site....it the date/time for the Black Belt seminar and the weapons seminar say that are starting at 9 pm. Is that correct? Let me go read it to make certain I am not reading it wrong.
